We hope you had a wonderful holiday season and would like to wish you all the best in 2009.
Did you make any New Year's resolutions for the upcoming year?
Annually we hear the same resolutions, (exercise, quit something, spend time with loved ones, pay off debt, etc).
Remember to keep your goals realistic (at least for the short term), plan ahead, and go for it!
We suggest that you reassess your progress towards the end of February. If you are unsatisfied, regroup and re-evaluate; were you too ambitious for the short term, did you plan enough, did you even try?
Use March to plan around these obstacles and give it a second go. You can adjust your resolution to something that works for you ...it's your resolution and it is not set in stone!
Good luck and keep us posted!
Wishing You the Best in 2009,
Dr. Larry Podolsky, Dr. Howard Rosen and staff.

Cosmetic Dentistry; Reasons to Smile
|
When you think of dentistry, you probably think only of what dentists do to improve your health: but what about your appearance?
Cosmetic dentistry is the general term used to describe what dentists may do to improve your appearance. But don't be misled: the improvement in your appearance often leads to improvement in your overall physical (and mental) health. |
What does cosmetic dentistry involve?
Often, patients perceive that their teeth are crooked, chipped, stained, or too dark, leading to a smile that's just not right. Cosmetic dentistry aims to correct, repair or cover the imperfection improving the appearance of the patient's smile and often their self confidence.
Some of the procedures currently used in cosmetic dentistry are:
Whitening
Stains on the surface of teeth can usually be 'lightened' though cleaning. Stains within teeth themselves, may be removed through 'whitening' using either in-office or take-home treatments.

| Is It Time to Change Your Brush? |
Next time you brush your teeth take a closer look at your brush. If the ends are starting to fray or the bristles are starting to lose their shape, its time for a new brush.
We recommend a soft bristled brush as it is easier on your gums and enamel yet effective enough to remove daily buildup and food particles.
The head size and brush shape are also important. You should be able to maneuver the brush comfortably around your mouth, especially when brushing around and behind your back teeth.
It is recommended that you change your toothbrush at least every four months, so if you can't remember when you last changed your tooth brush...perhaps today is a good day.
