It's hard to believe that Fall is already here! Everyone around our office seems to have settled back into their routines, especially those with young children around the home.

Perfect for the fall season we have beautiful new artwork displayed in our office. This work by Stephanie Birkett, features owls and has been praised by both our team members and visitors alike. Stop by and have a peek if you are in the neighborhood or during your next appointment.

A great big thank you to all those who made it down during Taste of the Danforth.
We were handing out beach balls! Hopefully some of you received one during this amazing event!

If you chose to add an activity to your routine we applaud you and were thrilled by how many people asked us for more information regarding custom fitted mouth guards.

There are still many seasonal activities available to those of you looking to stay active as the temperatures begin to drop outside.
With Halloween just around the corner we've included some topics that seems to arise this time of year. October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Women's History Month, and International Walk to School Month.

Many dental plans are based on the calendar year. That often means that your coverage maximums start over on January 1. Your unused benefits may not roll over into the New Year, meaning; if you don't use them they will go to waste!

There are many reasons that you should be visiting our office on a scheduled basis. Early detection of problems, your cleaning and hygiene regimen and don't forget oral cancer screening to name a few.

If we haven't seen your smile in a while call us today to book an appointment or better yet you can request an appointment from the computer you are sitting at right now!

Please Note: We will be closing at 5pm on October 31.
Happy Halloween!

If you know of someone who would benefit from our dental services, please let us know.
We truly appreciate your confidence and your referrals!

Please remember to let us know if there have been any changes to your plan before your next visit. As always, if you are unsure of your policy's details, review it carefully, contact your provider or bring it in with you and we will help you understand your coverage.

Ah it's October, the leaves are falling and so is the temperature! Halloween is just around the corner and whether you have little ghosts and goblins or not, chances are you will have a pail full of sugary sweets to accommodate those that do come to your door. If you're like me, not all of these candies end up in little 'trick or treaters' bags. More often than not it's a 1:1 ratio of one in the bag, one in my stomach.

Here are some suggestions to help you cope with the temptation of Halloween candy in the house:
For starters, wait until the night or two before Halloween to actually pick up any candy...if its not there, you won't eat it.

Eat any candy with a meal, and drink water to rinse the sugar from your teeth when you're done.

Perhaps try 'healthier' snacks such as raisins, sesame snaps and sugar free options.

Buy yourself a treat! This year I'm trying an imported Swiss chocolate instead of the countless candies intended for the ghouls.
If you're going to indulge, do so in moderation, besides the dental problems think about your overall health.

Next time you brush your teeth take a closer look at your brush. If the ends are starting to fray or the bristles are starting to lose their shape, its time for a new brush.

We recommend a soft bristled brush as it is easier on your gums and enamel yet effective enough to remove daily buildup and food particles.

The head size and brush shape are also important. You should be able to maneuver the brush comfortably around your mouth, especially when brushing around and behind your back teeth.
It is recommended that you change your toothbrush at least every four months, so if you can't remember when you last changed your tooth brush ...perhaps today is a good day!
