This month sure has been one for the records. Although it seems like the snow will never end, remember that spring is just around the corner. The ample snow does allow for an abundance of winter activities to help you stay active.

Don't forget that shoveling is an activity!
If you are unsure, ask your doctor. Always stretch both before and after and use proper lifting techniques to protect your knees and back.

It is fitting for Heart Month to have two holidays focused on spending time with family and loved ones. We hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day and took full advantage of Ontario's newest holiday 'Family Day'.

Recent studies show considerable links between heart disease and oral health.

In particular, gum disease and tooth loss may be good predictors of future heart disease.

The theory is that the bacteria that causes gum disease enters the bloodstream through the inflamed gum tissues. This bacteria can eventually end up in the same plaque associated with heart disease.

Look both ways before you cross the street.
Always hold an adults hand when crossing the street.
Brush your teeth after every meal.

These were good pieces of advice when you were younger.

Well guess what, you should always look both ways, it's nice to hold someone's hand and you should still brush your teeth after every meal.

Make a habit out of keeping a tooth brush at the office and take a moment to clean your teeth after lunch, (your email can wait). Keep your office tooth brush well covered, dry it after each use and change it more frequently than your home brush (due to office germs).

Brushing your teeth will help protect them from decay, refresh you, and get rid of the garlic taste from that pasta you ate, your mouth will appreciate it and so will your coworkers.
