January 2009 - Happy New Year!

A special thank you to all of our patients who participated in our food and toy drive.

With your help we were able to collect more than four full boxes of food and two full boxes of toys!

You Can Do It!

Did you make any New Year's resolutions for the upcoming year?

Annually we hear the same resolutions, (exercise, quit something, spend time with loved ones, pay off debt, etc). Remember to keep your goals realistic (at least for the short term), plan ahead, and go for it!

We suggest that you reassess your progress towards the end of February. If you are unsatisfied, regroup and re-evaluate; were you too ambitious for the short term, did you plan enough, did you even try?

Use March to plan around these obstacles and give it a second go. You can adjust your resolution to something that works for you ...it's your resolution and it is not set in stone! Good luck and keep us posted!

Are You Ready to Quit?
More bad news for smokers!


Tobacco use slows your body's ability to fight bacteria and heal itself.
For those of you that chew tobacco, there is an increased chance of serious gum disease and tooth wear from the constant rubbing and pressing of tobacco against the teeth.

Come on people ...bad breath should have been a good enough reason to quit, why wait for something more serious to happen?


This month hosts National Non-Smoking Week January 18 to 24. By now you have heard endless reasons to quit smoking, are you ready?

If it is your time to quit, speak to us during your next visit, we may be able to help.

You can also visit the Smoker’s Helpline for tips and suggestions to help you succeed.

Dr. Brown:
Dr. Brown spent New Year's Eve in Nassau, Bahamas with his sister and her family.

Kim:
For Kim, New Year's Eve was a quiet night watching movies with her husband Jamie and son, Riley.
Stop drinking pop - be healthier.

Tami:
Tami spent New Year's Eve with her cousin and family at home, watching Anderson Cooper.
Drink more water (and maybe less coffee).

Lisa:
Lisa and Ritesh spent New Year's Eve in Aruba.
Start yoga!

Lovina:
Lovina spent New Year's Eve in South Beach, hanging out with her friends.
Be consistent in working out and eating healthy.

Mandy:
Mandy and Matt spent New Year's Eve on Margarita Island, off the coast of Venezuela.
Spend more time with friends and family as we don't realize how short life really is!

Betty:
Betty spent New Year's Eve with her family, celebrating into the wee hours of the morning.
To continue losing weight

Kristin:
Kristin toasted in the New Year with her husband Anthony and friends in Muskoka.
Eat more fruit (not including the type that comes from a wine bottle).
