OFFICE NEWS

On Sunday July 19, 2009, our office will be participating in our third annual Acura Toronto Ten Miler and 5k Run/Walk (in support the Canadian Cancer Society), held at The Historic Distillery.
Rest assured, we only do the 5k - some of the staff will be running and some of us will definitely be walking.

If you are interested in joining us, please call or email us for more details, or visit this link to register. We hope you can join us for this special event.

In conjunction with the Run/Walk, we will also be hosting a FOOD DRIVE (canned and non-perishable goods) at our office from June 1st - July 15th in support of The Daily Food Bank.

Any and all contributions would be greatly appreciated.

Crowns: A Royal Treatment!
There you are watching a movie, innocently eating your popcorn...
Crack! Ouch! Uh oh? Was that your tooth?
Time to call the dentist!

What is a Crown?

A crown is a covering that sits over the top of the tooth. Crowns protect, cover, seal and strengthen your tooth. When a filling just won't do the job, we often turn to the crown.

There are many situations that may call for a crown:

Large old fillings
When large old fillings break down, or get decay around them, the tooth often needs to be crowned. It is important to crown a tooth that has been structurally weakened to prevent further damage such as cracking or breaking.

What other situations may require a crown?

Brush After Lunch
Look both ways before you cross the street, always hold an adults hand and brush your teeth after every meal were good pieces of advice when you were a kid.

Well guess what, you should always look both ways, it's nice to hold someone's hand and you should still brush your teeth after every meal.

Make a habit out of keeping a tooth brush at the office and take a moment to clean your teeth after lunch, (your email can wait). Keep your office tooth brush well covered, dry it after each use and change it more frequently than your home brush (due to office germs).

Brushing your teeth will help protect them from decay, refresh you, and get rid of the garlic taste from that pasta you ate. Your mouth will appreciate it and so will your coworkers!

BOOKS, MUSIC, MOVIES and STUFF

Some of our staff recommendations this month:

Dr. Brown: (movie - 2009)
Star Trek Prequel
In one word, AWESOME!

Lisa: (movie - 2002)
Infernal Affairs
This is the movie that The Departed was based on. But exceptionally better. A must see!
Cantonese with English subtitles.

Kim: (books)
Twilight series (by Stephenie Meyer)
Since I started the first book, I have been shamelessly addicted.
I feel like I am having a book affair. omg!

Tami: (movie - 2009)
One Week
If you had one week to live, what would you do?
A powerful movie that explores the issues surrounding death and reflecting back on a life lived.

Kristin: (Valuable Tip)
No More Tears
Tired of crying when you cut onions? If so, here is a neat tip: keep your mouth shut! That is, breath through your nose and whatever you do, DON'T breathe through your mouth!
Works like a charm.

Lovina: (book - 2005)
Family Matters (by Rohinton Mistry)
Set in 1990's Bombay, this is a story of familial love, personal obligations, political corruption and possibilities for compassion. A fantastic read!
