October 2008 - Halloween Edition!
It's hard to believe that Fall is already here! Everyone around our office seems to have settled back into their routines, especially those with young children around the home.
|
If you chose to add an activity to your routine we applaud you and were thrilled by how many people asked us for more information regarding custom fitted mouth guards.
There are still many seasonal activities available to those of you looking to stay active as the temperature begins to drop outside.

Use it or Lose it!
Many dental plans are based on the calendar year. That often means that your coverage maximums start over on January 1. Your unused benefits may not roll over into the New Year, meaning; if you don't use them they will go to waste!
|
 |
There are many reasons that you should be visiting our office on a scheduled basis. Early detection of problems, your cleaning and hygiene regimen and don't forget oral cancer screening to name a few.
If we haven't seen your smile in a while, you can request an appointment from the computer you are sitting at right now!

Wishing you countless reasons to Smile,
Dr. Freedman and the Team at BDHC

Here are some tips for Halloween that have been circulating around our office:
|
-Wait until a day or two before Halloween to purchase any candy. If it's not in the house you won't eat it.
-Treat yourself to a reward rather than sampling the candies you bought for the Trick or Treaters.
-Take any leftover candies to your office in the morning so they are not around your home to tempt you. Better yet drop them off at a local shelter or food drive where deserving children who may not have had opportunity to trick or treat may benefit.
|
|
-If your little ghosts and goblins are trick or treating this year, remember to inspect everything they bring home discarding anything with open or loose packaging, as well as anything you are unsure of. It's a great time to teach safety!
-Limit the amount of sugary treats they are allowed to consume to protect both their teeth and their health, ensure that they rinse with water and brush their teeth when they are done.

More bad news for smokers! Tobacco use slows your body's ability to fight bacteria and heal itself.
|
Especially for those of you that chew tobacco, there is an increased chance of serious gum disease and tooth wear from the constant rubbing and pressing of tobacco against the teeth.
Come on people ...bad breath should have been a good enough reason to quit, why wait for something more serious to happen? |
