Our office is dedicated to providing our patients with the best quality of dental care. In order to keep abreast of new developments in dentistry this November Dr. Freedman took a series of courses.

During the weekend of November 7th and 8th Dr. Freedman attended a course that addressed the dental cranial connection. This course focused on advanced lightwire functional's which helps to correct dental orthopedic and orthodontic malocclusions. Click here to learn more!

During the weekend of November 14th Dr. Freedman was away at a course studying homeopathic remedies as part of his naturopathic accreditation program.

The cold seems to have settled in and taken hold of the city.

The temperature outside is no reason to hibernate. The change of season offers an opportunity to try new activities and revisit ones that were put on hold over the warmer months. Staying active throughout the year is essential to your overall health and a great way to spend time with family and friends.

November is a great time to finish up the chores in and around your home in preparation for the upcoming winter season. We've included some tips to help get you started.

November is CPR Awareness Month, a life saving skill that we strongly believe in click here for courses near you. November is also Diabetes Awareness Month, click here for more details.

Is it time for a cleaning or to have your dental work completed?
If your dental benefits are based on the calendar year, your maximums may not roll over into the New Year. If you don't use them they will go to waste.

Call us today or click here to request an appointment and we will find a time that fits your schedule.

Have a safe and healthy month,

Dr. Freedman and the Team at BDHC

The effects of smoking on health in general is now well understood. But did you know that smoking also contributes to many dental problems?

Tobacco use slows your body's ability to fight bacteria and heal itself.

For those of you that chew tobacco, there is an increased chance of serious gum disease and tooth wear from the constant rubbing and pressing of tobacco against the teeth.

There is still much to be done to prepare for the winter months ahead. Here are some reminders to keep you on top of things:

If you haven't done so already, remember to rake the leaves, weed, feed and aerate the lawn one last time before the snow comes. If your pet 'uses the yard', it is a good time to clean up after them (you'll be glad you did when the snow melts in the spring).

If you have trees that overhang your roof, remember to clean out the gutters. Turn off the water to the outdoor faucets, empty your hoses, roll them up and store them properly (this will save you from needing a new one next year).

If you have a humidifier clean the filter, make sure it still works. Change the filter in your furnace and make sure the heating system in your residence is working (the first cold snap is no time for a surprise).

The next warm afternoon that you spend at home, open all of your windows for several hours, especially the ones in the basement if you live in a house.

If you can't remember when you changed the batteries in your smoke detector, DO IT TODAY!

There are also several websites that offer tips specific for preparing apartments, condos, cottages etc. for each season. A little work now can go a long way as well as offer activities that the whole family can participate in. Remember to stretch before performing any activity, yard work included.

Now get out there and enjoy the rest of the season!
