We have made it through the Winter months and hopefully everyone feels great from participation in Winter activities like skiing, snowshoeing and even shoveling.

Spring is here and soon our warm weather wardrobes will make their way to the front of our closets. Fittingly, March is National Nutrition Month. Nutrition plays a huge role in how we look and feel and is pivotal to our oral and dental health.
If you'd like more information about National Nutrition Month events and tips, please click here or ask us during your next visit.

Enjoy this issue of our eNewsletter and remember to add us to your safe email list to ensure you find us in your inbox each month. Let us know what you'd like us to focus on in future issues, we'd love to hear from you.

1. Dental Check Ups Include Oral Cancer Screenings.
Dental check ups include screenings for oral cancer, a serious disease of the mouth, lips, or throat, but highly treatable if detected and treated early.

2. Gum (Periodontal) Disease Affects Your Overall Health.
One of the principal causes of tooth loss, gum disease has also been linked to heart disease. If detected early, it can be treated and reversed.

3. Dental Cleanings and Check Ups are Extremely Important to your Wellbeing.
Your dentist needs to prevent problems before they happen: regular check ups and cleanings will help to maintain proper oral health.

4. Brush and Floss twice Daily.

Making good nutritional choices, especially if started at a young age, helps to maintain a healthy body as well as healthy teeth.

Combining the right nutritional choices with proper dental maintenance helps to ensure proper oral health.

How, you ask?
The accumulation of plaque, a film of saliva, mucus, bacteria, and food residue (particularly from foods that are high in sugar and starch) that builds up on the surface of teeth, can lead to decay and gum disease.

This build up is limited by consistent brushing and flossing combined with healthy food choices.

Overall, the key to healthy teeth is multi factorial, including a balanced diet, proper hydration, limiting unhealthy snacks, proper oral care, and seeing your dentist on a regular basis.
