April is here and it is gearing up to be a very busy month for all of us at Rosedale! Drs. Silver, Warshafsky & Shade are all in training for their upcoming events.
As mentioned in last month's newsletter, Dr. Warshafsky will again be competing in the Sporting Life 10K run in support of Camp Oochigeas on May 4, 2008.
You may recall, that last year he not only exceeded his personal goal in fundraising but also his running time. In addition his team raised an impressive $33,000 in support of this amazing cause.
Dr. Warshafsky & his wife Erika will try again this year to reach their goals and support this cause. If you would like to sponsor Dr. Warshafsky or find out more about Camp Oochigeas visit their website here.
Also in the competing and caring spirit are Drs. Silver and Shade.
They will be participating in The Ride to Conquer Cancer, benefiting the Princess Margaret Hospital.
This is a 200K bike trip over 2 days from Toronto to Niagara Falls to raise funds for the Princess Margaret Hospital. Also joining the team will be Dr. Warshafsky and Erika.
The team aptly named "Tour de Tooth", is united in reaching the end destination as well as raising as much money as possible in support of the Princess Margaret Hospital. If you would like to sponsor "Tour de Tooth"click hereor to find out more about this event, please visit this link.
We hope that you will join the Rosedale Team in an effort to support Dr. Warshafsky, Dr. Shade and

Take this month to learn as much as you can about your oral health. Feel free to ask us any questions you may have and spread the word, a healthier mouth is a healthier you!
When you have a moment today, here is a quiz and a word-search created by the Canadian Dental Association based on your oral health. We think that you may find them both entertaining and educational.
The CDA has also created several activities that you may want to print out for your children to enjoy this evening.
The Canadian Dental Association's 5 steps to good oral health are 1. Visit your dentist regularly.
2. Brush your teeth and tongue twice a day using fluoride toothpaste and floss every day.
3. Eat a well balanced diet.
4. Check your mouth regularly for signs of gum disease and oral cancer.
5. Don't smoke or chew tobacco.

At our office we offer both supervised in-office teeth whitening as well as whitening trays that you can use in the comfort of your own home. Extreme Makeover helped to bring whitening and other cosmetic procedure to the public's attention, but the positive results of whitening speak for themselves.
Many of our patients have asked us about the pros and cons of whitening, so we are including them here in our eNewsletter.
Cons of Whitening: The negatives associated with whitening are generally short term. The results of teeth whitening are noticeable after a single visit and will be noticed by those around you. This may be a disadvantage if you are self-conscious. Some patients experience heightened tooth sensitivity and irritation or soreness in their gums during the whitening process. These effects dissipate shortly after the whitening process has been completed. We can test for sensitivity prior to beginning a whitening treatment.
