We hope that you are taking advantage of the fantastic warm weather that we have been having.

We wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS to Dr. Warshafsky & his wife Erika who as you know recently participated in the Camp Oochigeas 10K run. Dr. Warshafsky was able to exceed his personal fundraising goal of $2500 as well as his running time goal. In addition, his team raised an impressive $33,000 for this amazing cause. For everyone who contributed to help make it a success, we sincerely thank you! (Click here to read their kind words)

As you may remember from our last newsletter Dr. Silver, Dr. Shade and their family had the opportunity to visit Israel over Passover. Dr. Silver would like to share some photos from the trip and has included them in this issue. Click here to view them.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION IF YOU TAKE ANTIBIOTICS PRIOR TO DENTAL TREATMENT.

If you have a heart condtion and were told to take short-term antibiotics prior to a dental treatment then the following article may be of interest to you.

The American Dental Association and American Heart Association have recently released that many patients who had been advised to take antibiotics proior to a dental procedure to protect against Infective Endocarditis no longer need them.

The recomendation includes people with:
  • Mitral valve prolapse
  • Rheumatic heart disease
  • Bicuspid valve disease
  • Calcified aortic stenosis
  • Congenital heart conditions

Of course we recommend that you verify with your medical practitioner that you can discontinue use of prophylactic antibiotics. If you have an artificial heart valve, a history of infective endocarditis or a specific and/or serious congenital heart condition you should still continue to take your antibiotics prior to dental treatment.

CANADA DAY Sunday July 1st
OFFICE CLOSED Monday July 2nd

Look both ways before you cross the street, always hold an adults hand and brush your teeth after every meal were good pieces of advice when you were a kid. Well guess what, you should always look both ways, it's nice to hold someone's hand and you should still brush your teeth after every meal.

Make a habit out of keeping a tooth brush at the office and take a moment to clean your teeth after lunch, (your email can wait). Keep your office tooth brush well covered, dry it after each use and change it more frequently than your home brush (due to office germs). Brushing your teeth will help protect them from decay, refresh you, and get rid of the garlic taste from that pasta you ate, your mouth will appreciate it and so will your coworkers.
