2010 is here and while we are happy to welcome a new year it sure has been cold!
Be sure that you are prepared for winter driving and make sure that you have an emergency kit always packed in your vehicle ...just in case.
.jpg) Thank you so much to everyone who donated to our "Toy Story" for Sick Kids Hospital Drive. Although we started off to a slow start the end result far surpassed what we had hoped for. We are sure that due to your generosity that there were many extra smiles this year. Thank you.
Our Food Drive was not left out either this year. Thanks to our patients & staff we collected over 300 pounds of food this year! This is a yearly event that has come to mean a lot to us and we are so happy to be able to assist the Daily Bread Food Bank in their tireless efforts.
Our Staff Also held a Toy Story Drive which benefited
The Yellow Brick House. The Yellow Brick House is a shelter for
women and children who are victims of domestic abuse. In lieu of our Kris Kringle gift exchange we happily donated toys/gifts to the shelter.
We have included their thank you letter here.
January 17 to 23 is National Non-Smoking Week. If you have been trying to quit now is a great time! Ask us how we may be able to help.
Remember all tobacco use affects your overall health as well as your teeth and smile. If you need some help quitting be sure to visit the smoker's helpline for tips and support.
Dr. Silver had the opportunity to visit Hawaii and Boston on his holidays and took some amazing pictures. Look for them in our February edition of our eNewsletter.
Now that 2010 is here it is a time for resolutions or rather commitments.
Until next month,
Dr. Neil Silver, Dr. Brian Warshafsky and the staff of Rosedale Dental Centre

We had the opportunity to get together with our staff on December 11, 2009 for our annual Holiday Party. It was great getting to have fun with everyone from our Thornhill & Pickering Offices.
This years party was held at the Ezone. We had the chance to play Laser Tag, Whirly Ball, RockBand, Virtual Golf & More!

Dr. Silver, Dr. Warshafsky & Dr. Little also had the chance to "perform" using DanceHeads. It was definitely a fun night and we highly recommend the Ezone if you are getting together with a bunch of co-workers or friends.
You can view the images and some
DanceHeads clips from
our
holiday party here.

A bowl of minestrone soup - done 'right' can provide your body full of nutrients, not to mention a hearty and healthy meal. This recipe is made with butternut squash and sweet potatoes as the base. These two combined provide a sweet, delicate broth that is alkalizing and delicious.
This winter squash is also a great source of natural sugars, carbohydrates and beta carotene. It provides vitamin A and C, potassium iron, riboflavin and magnesium and very low in sodium.
So as you can see, a bowl of this squashy soup is very nourishing and of course delicious.
Just like traditional minestrone this soup is chalked full of veggies, bulked up with kidney beans and brown rice macaroni noodles. At this particular time of the year, there is nothing better than a hearty bowl of soup. Squashes are also in season now. Take advantage and make yourself a bowl of yummy minestrone soup!
