Another year seems to have flown by!

This is our final newsletter for 2009! It's amazing that a whole year has already past.

As December gears up to be a very busy month for everyone it's important to reflect on all of the good things that have happened over the year and remember to take some time for yourself. It is also the perfect time to get in the holiday giving spirit and connect with family and friends.

Looking Back at 2009!
  • We welcomed Lisa back to our office this year after her maternity leave. Lisa will also be working a bit more in 2010 to accommodate more patients who would like to see her.
  • Kathy celebrated over one year of quitting smoking...we are so proud of her!
  • We welcomed Lindite to our office as our new hygienist!
  • Dr. Silver & Dr. Shade rode in the 200KM Conquer Cancer for the second year in a row!
  • Dr. Warshafsky once again ran in the 10K run for Camp Oochigeas beating his personal time goal.
  • Dr. Silver, Kandace Natalie & our team captain Kathy all completed the 2009 climb for United Way at the CN TOWER.

This time of year there is no shortage of seasonal treats to enjoy during meals with family and friends! One seasonal food that is not only delicious but also benefits your smile may surprise you!
The treat we are referring to is cranberries!

This holiday season try substituting some cranberries for those sugary sweets. They have a tart yet sweet taste, offer many health benefits and studies suggest they may even help with your oral health!

Two business days are requested should you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment?

The best compliment you can give us is your referrals? We are now accepting new patients

As we age there is no reason why your smile has to be 'long in the tooth'! It is not the case that as we age our gums naturally recedes. If you notice that your crowns are getting longer it is important to have your dentist examine your teeth.

What Causes Gums to Recede?

Some reasons include:
  • Overaggressive brushing - your enamel at the gum line can be worn away by scrubbing the sides of the teeth.
  • Lack of proper oral hygiene - without regular brushing and flossing bacteria builds up in between the teeth.
  • Using chewing tobacco adversely affects the mucus membrane lining in your mouth and can cause your gums to recede.
  • A poorly placed tongue or lip piercing can cause your gums to recede.

Receding gums can be difficult to detect and will occur over time.
If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms contact your dentist:

Based on the recent feedback from our patients about cell phone use, we would like to remind you that cell phone and other electronic devices are not permitted in the operatories during your appointment.

We thank you in advance for helping us make your visit as well as all our patient's visits a pleasant one!
