Summer is on its way!

If you have enrolled yourself or your children in a sporting league you will undoubtedly be gearing up with some new equipment. A new glove, a bat, inline skates and... a mouth guard! If your activity of choice involves the potential for contact, think about your teeth. Talk to us about a properly fitted mouth guard this season. We may not be able to improve your game, but we can help to protect your winning smile!

With the weather warming up outside we tend to find ourselves enjoying the outdoors more frequently. We would like to take this opportunity to remind you to get in the habit of applying sunscreen! To get the most out of the season we have included some spring cleaning tips that can help get your home ready and you in the spirit of season.

With all of that said, get out there and enjoy yourselves.

We hope all of the mothers out there have a great Mother's Day and that everyone takes full advantage of the long weekend.

Until next month keep smiling!

Silver, Dr. Brian Warshafsky and the staff of Rosedale Dental Centre

With summer on the way there is no reason for your home to still have winter clutter laying about. The Victoria Day long weekend is a great chance to plan for a spring clean up extravaganza around your living space.

The keyword here is 'plan'. By planning ahead for your spring clean up, you will be able to set realistic goals spread out over a few days. The end result should be a living space that will let you get the most out of the summer months with friends and family.

Here are some tips that we have gathered from asking around the office.

1. Do an expiry check!
Start in your fridge (you may be surprised at what has gathered in there). Check the medicine cabinets, the dates on the bottles are there for a reason. Change the batteries in your smoke detectors. Go through your closets. Clothes may not have an expiry date, but you if haven't worn that shirt since 2005... consider it expired!

2. Do an air quality check!

Open your windows and let some fresh air in. Change the filters in your furnace. Clean your humidifiers.

3. Do an internet check!
The internet offers a wealth of advice on spring cleaning strategies.

Remember to stretch before you perform any physical activity. A clean organized living space will have a positive effect on your mental and physical health. It is also a great way to get your family involved in a physical activity that will ultimately benefit everyone involved.

Your bouncing baby has been sleeping and eating for months now: don't forget the importance of of cleaning their mouths.

A baby's gums and mouth can be cleaned using an infant tooth brush that slides onto your finger. Do not use toothpaste; water is fine for cleaning a baby's mouth. Toothpaste can be added in a pea sized amount when your child is old enough to understand not to swallow the paste. Even then we advise not to use a fluoride toothpaste until your child is around two years old.
